THE TIME IS UPON US and I am answering all your questions! It's going to be a good time. Especially because MY BLOG IS A WHOPPING THREE YEARS OLD TODAY.
So like...I know the world is a dark place at the moment and there's so much to worry about, but I'm pretty darn excited about this, so I'm quite happy to JUST think about my blog ;) Does that make me selfish? Probably. Can you tell I'm writing this in the middle of the night? Probably. Am I cramming? Definitely. But this is me, so why would you expect anything different?????
Without further ado or rambling...let's get into MY THIRD BLOGOVERSARY Q&A: You ask, I answer.
NICOLE
- YOUR favorite Newsies character + song? ;)
Accckkkkk. My favorite character is Davey, actually *smirks* and my favorite song is easily Once and For All.
- Rank your handwriting on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being absolute perfection.
5 in print, 6 in cursive. Honestly, it's pretty atrocious, and it's only gotten worse.
- What is your preferred form of caffeine intake?
If I had the choice? ICED COFFEE EVERY DAY. Since I don't have that available, however, it would be hot coffee. xD
- Favorite TV show at the moment?
The current show on the watchlist: Agent Carter!
BROOKE
What is your favorite book? (I have to ask this, it's tradition.)
*sighs heavily* I don't knooooowwwwwww. At the moment? Let's be cliche and say the Bible.
Hmm....I actually like pineapple (please don't murder me), every now and then. I don't like pepperoni all that much, though.
Favorite song at the moment?
"Redeemed to Redeem" by Austin Stone Worship!
What is something good that has happened to you recently?
Oh goodness...*thinks* *hard* A couple of writing updates have me very excited (*winky winky, more details coming later MAYBE), and my manager at work showered me with compliments the day I worked with her ;)
DANIELLE JAGO

Do you have a favorite Musical?
Wicked, Hamilton, Les Miserables, and Newsies top the list!
What book immediately comes to mind when asked for recommendations?
The Traitor's Game by Jennifer Nielsen, the Wingfeather Saga by Andrew Peterson, and Heartless by Anne Elisabeth Stengl!
What is your favorite sentence that you've written?
The climax of my fourth book in the Pentegreens series includes the following sentence:
Do you play any musical instruments?
I've been playing the piano for almost eleven years! :D

Who's your FAVORITE best friend? >:)
Lila, clearly.
Lila, clearly.
You have to kill three male characters and one female in your book. Who do you choose? (Cannot be any of the bad guys, it can only be the good guys.)
Yiiiikes? Also why is this the actual number of good guys who die in one of my series
Since this could be any book, we'll go with Holding Up the Sky. I'd kill Daverby, Oscar, and Bernardo for the guys, and for the girls....Talia *nod nod*

- Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Hopefully graduated from college, with a nice job and a nice apartment with bookshelves full of novels, a published book, and a couple of cats. <3
- What are some simple, little things in life that bring you joy?
Cupcakes! Cats! The steam curling off the top of a cappuccino! Cappuccinos in general! A hug from my mommy or my sisters! When I'm coloring and the color comes out absolutely right! A text saying "I love you"! Bookmail! Clean laundry! So many little things--I could go on forever, but these are a few to start with.
- Where do you get the most inspiration from?
Movies provide me SO MUCH story fodder. I can't even explain how much time I've spent watching movies, stealing hints of story to stick into my own novels.
In art: I get tons of inspiration from random pictures off Pinterest and from my own life.

Can you cope with injuries (ie: BLOOOOOOOOD) or do you faint?? xD
I can cope with blood pretty well. I do hate needles with a vengeance, though, and if you draw my blood or give me a shot, I will most likely pass out. *Passed out from anxiety because of vaccines at the doctor a couple weeks ago* *whistles innocently*
Situation in which you were incredibly witty (and proud of it obviously)?
Oh goodness. Most of the time, I'm witty and regret it hardcore xD Because I think I'm being witty...but actually I hurt someone's feelings and will lie awake thinking about it for DECADES after. I'm trying to think of a good moment, but I can't. OH WELL
Which do you prefer: Old English, or text language?
Text language, because I can actually understand it *cackles*

-Cats or dogs??? This is very important because there is only one correct answer. *cough* cats *cough*
Correct answer is correct. ;) CATS IS CORRECT.
-Give me a one sentence pitch for your current WIP. *rubs hands together maniacally*
The legend of Atlas meets Rapunzel in this high fantasy story that combines music, portals, and monsters into a heist story where the object in question is a human...the only girl born with the unique abilities that could save the world from its crumbling sky.
-What’s the one song you can never skip, even if you’re not really in the mood for it?
"A Sky Full of Stars" by Coldplay. *hugs it softly*
-You have unlimited funds and a private jet. Where are you going? 💖💖
Ackkkkk idk mate. Right now, nowhere, haha. But in a few months...Italy for a tour of the ENTIRE country. And then I'll pop over to Ireland, England, Scotland, and Wales.

What made you decide to start a blog? (I've been toying with starting one, so I thought I should ask!)
I wanted to start a blog after taking a creative writing class where I did a small blog on my class wiki-page! It was a little thing about where I had traveled in my life, and only my classmates responded. But between that and a few other things, I decided that starting a blog seemed like a very smart thing to do. I was wrong. But I love it, wholeheartedly, and at this point I don't see myself stopping.
How old were you when you started writing?
Well, I wrote my first story at age four >:) It was about how much I hated my preschool teacher. True literature. I was probably 8 when I really started writing--I wrote several short stories and a couple of "novels" that never got much above 30k.
What's the best way to get out of a writing rut, in your opinion, of course?
Find a project that gives you passion and stick to it. If your main story is giving you trouble, try writing another. Of course, if you can't just STOP on the one you're currently doing, I have two main ways of breaking the rut:
>Take a day off. Just one. It doesn't hurt anything, and even if you don't quite hit your word count for that day, it'll help in the long run.
>Write something completely unrelated. When I have trouble with writing my actual novels, I'll frequently take a break and write a flash fiction story.

First movie you remember seeing in the theater, and what did you think of it?
Curious George, the original movie, is the earliest I remember seeing. I was three, and I HATED it. I was sobbing from terror and my parents had to take me home not even halfway through. (The irony in that, of course, is that now Curious George is one of my favorite movies. Yes, I am graduating from high school in two months. Don't judge me.)
The most recent movie that you saw in a theater, and what did you think of it?
At the time of writing this: Call of the Wild! It was okay, I guess. The CGI was better than I expected, and I went with my little sister, who had an absolute BLAST watching it. So of course, her being so happy made me a happy camper. We had a good time.
How is the most amazing Rapunzel retelling ever coming?????
It's...existing xD But I would not say it's thriving. I finally hit 50k, but I kinda stalled there (thanks to some other big writing news, so I'm not really complaining (!!!)). I'd like to get back to it this coming week and SMASH that word count.
Invite your top five favorite Pentegreen characters and five other fictional favorites to dinner, would they get along or try to kill each other?
Let's go with for Pentegreens:
1. Rish
2. Derek
3. Esma
4. Cilla
5. Eira
And for other five:
1. Lazlo Strange
2. Simon Hatch
3. Leith Torren
4. Janner Igiby
5. Prince Lionheart
*casually invites every fictional guy I've ever had a crush on HAHAHAHA*
Well...I think they'd get along okay. There might be some tension between Rish, Leith, and Lionheart, considering their arcs are somewhat similar and so are their personalities, but the others would get along pretty well.

1.) Mulder or Scully?
Scully, my dear. Because someone has to be the irritated skeptic to your starry-eyed conspiracy theorist.
2.) If you had to pick only one other plot bunny to ever write (discluding Pentegreens or anything related to Pentegreens cause it is written and your cop out) which will it be?
*puppy dog eyes* Nickiiiiiii you can't do that to me
I guess my seven-book epic fantasy series in the works, Mountainsong? Because it would take the longest and I could just keep developing it *evil smile*
3.) You get to travel with the Doctor for 3 years but like die horribly afterwards would you do it?
Ermm....no. xD Much though I love the Doctor...I'd just rather not.
4.) Wasn't I nice to not give you absolutely cruel questions?
Keep telling yourself that >:(

-You have to either listen to only one song that you love for the rest of your life, or only listen to one artist whose music you don't like. Which is it?
I'll listen to that one artist. It'll be Panic! At the Disco. I will slowly lose my mind. I will die the death of a bachelor, my high hopes crushed, my life a tragedy but not a sin. It will be my roaring twenties. The only silver lining I see in this is that at least they won't threaten me with a good time.
-If your favorite one of your own characters were thrown into your favorite book, would they fit in? Survive? Hate it? Love it? xD
That would be Derek and I'd be throwing him into Goldstone Wood. Honestly, I think Derek can survive anywhere. He's so upbeat and extroverted that he'd make friends with villains if they let him. He's too outgoing, but it's fine. At least it would let him live.
-What was the last movie you watched?
*mind goes blank*
Well...I've been watching lots of Agent Carter and The Clone Wars on Disney Plus? But in terms of actual movies...I watched part of Luther a couple nights ago, and I watched Fantasia a while ago when I was sick. Good times.
(clearly I need to watch more movies)

What was your favorite part about pitching at RM?
My favorite thing about it? Sitting down with total strangers and suddenly letting myself start flailing over my characters. I gave my nice little neat elevator pitch--and then, all of the sudden, I was running into a giant, messy scream-fest about my characters and my plots and how much I love them.
What are three things you've incorporated into your life that have made a big difference?
1. Turning off my phone before bed and using something that isn't my phone as an alarm. It makes a HUGE difference, y'all. The peace of mind alone.
2. using a very detailed planner to detail what I need to do task-wise in a day and not just my school assignments
3. Listening to Christian music on the way to work. Yeah. It changes things. Drastically.
What is a book that you wish you could fangirl over more, but there doesn't seem to be a big fan-base?
That's a very good question. I would say Traitor's Game, but all my best friends like that series. I guess we'll go with All the Crooked Saints by Maggie Stiefvater. That one seems to be one of her least popular works, which makes me sad, because it's BRILLIANT.

Favorite book of 2020?
So far, it's Hereafter by Jody Hedlund. The ship, people. THE SHIP.
But I'm praying to find my next favorite? Soon? Because reading has been SO disappointing this year, and I just...I need something good to read. I read two series finales, and both of those were quite good, but didn't quite hit the very high mark. :P
Who is your favorite character out of your own?
Derek! Obviously. But Rish comes in a close second. ;)
Favorite quote?
"Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end."
(barring Bible verses, that is)

Current fav song?
Since I already hit my favorite Christian song at the moment: Bad Decisions by Bastille.
Blue or cloudy skies?
Blue skies. I used to love cloudy skies, but living in a place where I'm constantly Vitamin D deficient has made me appreciate the sunshine.
Current fav Bible verse\passage?
John 3, the whole chapter. It's just...so beautiful. So much theology packed into such a short space. I love it. (Also the entire book of John? Also the entire book of Romans? And Revelation? And the second half of Isaiah????)
Fav villain quote from any book/movie?
WOW YIKES this is tough. *wracks brain*
How about Saruman on top of Orthanc, chanting, in Fellowship of the Ring? Because I like to copy that. Loudly. In the middle of my street while my neighbors stare at me. It's a good time for everyone but my siblings.
RAKAYLE
-Have you ever been to a Disney park?
Nope. NEVER. Not once. *sobs* I have been to Sea World, though! *crickets* Yeah, I know, it doesn't count. But IT WAS A ROLLICKING GOOD TIME.
-Prom dress or leather jacket?
Neither? Okay, that's not a viable option? Then we'll go with the situation. If I'm going to try to intimidate someone, I'll opt for leather jacket. If I'm doing literally anything else, prom dress. As long as it's more than a glorified halter. Because I need to stay warm. I get cold so easily.
-what movie is your current favorite?
At the moment...oh, goodness. I really love Amazing Grace, as always. Lord of the Rings has shot up to the top of the list again, though.
LILA
~ What's your favorite scent?
Old paper. Newly cut grass. Spaghetti cooking in the kitchen. Brownies. Anything cooking, basically.
~ A surprising realization you've had about yourself recently?
I'm not a night owl. And I don't get sleepy as easily as I once thought...which means putting myself to bed intentionally *cringes*
~ If you could have one standalone book get turned into a seven-book series, which book would you pick?
Once again, All The Crooked Saints by Maggie Stiefvater! I feel like there is SO much story fodder in that world to be explored.
THANK YOU ALL so much for reading my blog, commenting, and always checking in. It means the world to me--I couldn't do this without you all.
And to celebrate my blog's birthday...I made a birthday cake. Featuring a selection of names. ;) Thank you all so muuuuuuch for everything.
