a different writing challenge//my November story!

by - October 25, 2021

So I'm not doing NaNo this year (what do you think I am, crazy?) Sophomore year of college is killing me dead and I don't know how in the world I'm going to survive some days. Adding NaNo would be the end of at least my sanity.

But I'm a writer and it would be an affront to my identity to refrain from writing this November, so...here we are. I'm writing something a little new. You may recognize some of the names in this blurb. That's intentional. There are a lot of changes going on around here, things I'll explain later. For now, I'm going to introduce this little story.

He saved me. He keeps me alive. And I owe him everything.

She is the best killer in a century, heartless, cold-blooded. She has toppled a regime and seeks to take down another. Her name is on more wanted posters than any other in all of history. What no one knows is that she is nothing more than a pawn, a blade wielded in the hand of a dark mastermind.

That is exactly where Elensha wants to be—right in the hand of assassin lord Darkfire. Until he goes too far. Until he pushes her right over the edge of the cliff he promised he’d never back her up to. And now she’s running, into the darkness of a city where she has not a single ally.

Well… maybe just one. Maybe the girl whose blades have justice etched on them, the girl who promised she’d never leave anyone to the same fate she escaped, will help her. Maybe Elensha isn’t entirely alone in her quest for justice.

But Darkfire will not stop until he finds her. He will track her down. And he is a man of blood. She just has to take his first.

Comp Titles: Throne of Glass// The Traitor's Game// Wuthering Heights

I don't have much for this story yet. However, I can give a little bit of a word aesthetic:

loyalty// knife dripping blood// no one saw this coming// it was just one more time// redemption arc// dark city street// lonely// best friends// a broken heart// justice// war in the darkness

More info will likely be coming at the end of November--stay tuned for that! For now, I'm excited to be working on this story ;)
