MY FAVORITE BOOKS OF 2020 (JAN-JUNE)

by - June 29, 2020

Hello everybody, and welcome to a post where Faith screams a heckin' lot because THE YEAR IS HALF OVER AND HOWWWWWW

I never read as much as I want, and this year proved no exception. This has also been a generally disappointing year reading-wise (I think I have about three five-stars total so far, gosh), but I'm hurtling through a written TBR pile and actually reading some books I'd meant to read for YEARS, and so I'm going to give you guys some highlights!!!!

As always: My Goodreads exists and you should probably follow it because it's a rollicking GOOD time. Full of snark. Full of sass. Full of loving on soft characters and hating on YA bad boys. FOLLOW IT. xD

All Goodreads reviews will be linked under the books!

Hereafter by Jody Hedlund

lost princesses//sister relationships//hate to love romance// actual marriage eep? // Rishatta lite (meaning he's blond mwahaha) // weapons and subterfuge// a labyrinth

Adorning the Dark by Andrew Peterson

non-fiction by my favorite singer and author//it GOT me// I maybe cried a bit// you need a community to be a creator

One of Us Is Next by Karen M. McManus

Actually terrible??// these kids are the WORST role models// but also murder mystery!!! SQUEE!! // Can't really recommend but hey it broke my reading slump

Worlds Beneath by K.A. Emmons

Idk what these characters are doing but dang I want some of it// wolves// shapeshifting GOSH// Icarus aka the newest love of my life// Birds, wolves, screaming, oh my// this could have been a duology cuz this ending rocked

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

MAL THAT IS ALL// Oh and also ALINA// somehow I managed to plagiarize this book's villain long before having read it// I despise the Darkling mkay// Genya deserves love// what a book eep old YA at its height

How We Rise by Brooke Riley

By my critique partner// I love this one so much// Spencer is mine sorry anyone else// can we talk about the characters tho// I've done so much fanart for this series and I loves itttttt

What are your top books for the year so far? Have you read any that blew your mind? Have you read any of these and liked them?? Let me know in the comments!

  3. Out of all of these, I've only read How We Rise, but a lot of the other ones sound good, too!
My top book for the year is 100% The Letters of J. R. R. Tolkien because TOLKIEN--he has such a dry wit, and I LOVE IT, but he also has letters full of good advice, and one that's devoted entirely to the gift giving habits of the hobbits, and just <3.

  9. HOT TAKE I LIKED THE GRISHA TRILOGY BETTER THAN SOC THAT IS ALL.

I always love reading these mid-year wrap-up posts!! I think so far this year, my favorite books have been The Jewel of the Kalderash by Marie Rutkoski, The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Mohsin Hamid, aaaaand . . . *angst* The Hollow Boy by Jonathan Stroud. AND CALL OF THE WRAITH BY KEVIN SANDS AHHHHHH.

  10. Ha, I have the same thoughts on Shadow and Bone. The Darkling is waaay to romanticized. Mal is the best and Alina doesn't deserve him.
