MY FAVORITE BOOKS OF 2020 (JAN-JUNE)
Hello everybody, and welcome to a post where Faith screams a heckin' lot because THE YEAR IS HALF OVER AND HOWWWWWW
I never read as much as I want, and this year proved no exception. This has also been a generally disappointing year reading-wise (I think I have about three five-stars total so far, gosh), but I'm hurtling through a written TBR pile and actually reading some books I'd meant to read for YEARS, and so I'm going to give you guys some highlights!!!!
As always: My Goodreads exists and you should probably follow it because it's a rollicking GOOD time. Full of snark. Full of sass. Full of loving on soft characters and hating on YA bad boys. FOLLOW IT. xD
All Goodreads reviews will be linked under the books!
lost princesses//sister relationships//hate to love romance// actual marriage eep? // Rishatta lite (meaning he's blond mwahaha) // weapons and subterfuge// a labyrinth
non-fiction by my favorite singer and author//it GOT me// I maybe cried a bit// you need a community to be a creator
Actually terrible??// these kids are the WORST role models// but also murder mystery!!! SQUEE!! // Can't really recommend but hey it broke my reading slump
Idk what these characters are doing but dang I want some of it// wolves// shapeshifting GOSH// Icarus aka the newest love of my life// Birds, wolves, screaming, oh my// this could have been a duology cuz this ending rocked
MAL THAT IS ALL// Oh and also ALINA// somehow I managed to plagiarize this book's villain long before having read it// I despise the Darkling mkay// Genya deserves love// what a book eep old YA at its height
By my critique partner// I love this one so much// Spencer is mine sorry anyone else// can we talk about the characters tho// I've done so much fanart for this series and I loves itttttt
What are your top books for the year so far? Have you read any that blew your mind? Have you read any of these and liked them?? Let me know in the comments!

I want to read Adorning the Dark sooooo badly!! It sounds wonderful! And I need to get my hands on How We Rise.
ReplyDeleteIt's so wonderful and I think every author could take away so much from it. And YESSSSS I love it and am definitely not biased xD
DeleteI've read How We Rise (can't wait for the rest of the series), and I want to get my hands on The Blood Race series!!
ReplyDeleteAccckk the rest of the series is SO good (at least what I've read, haha) and I think you'd really like The Blood Race!
DeleteOut of all of these, I've only read How We Rise, but a lot of the other ones sound good, too!
ReplyDeleteMy top book for the year is 100% The Letters of J. R. R. Tolkien because TOLKIEN--he has such a dry wit, and I LOVE IT, but he also has letters full of good advice, and one that's devoted entirely to the gift giving habits of the hobbits, and just <3.
ACK I need to read that! I've been meaning to read Tolkien's essays and letters FOREVER.
DeleteLooks like some interesting book. One of my favorite reads this year so far is Crazy Dangerous by Andrew Klavan.

Oh sounds interesting! I'll have to look into that!
DeleteYour Goodreads plug is the best thing. xD
ReplyDeleteI've only read How We Rise on this list and am currently dying because I JUST WANT BOOK 2 OKAY. *falls over*
Also I feel like I kind of really need to read The Blood Race???

Hey I don't advertise ANY of my other social media...so why not shamelessly promote the only one I actually don't care about? xD
DeleteBOOK 2 WILL KILL YOU I'M NOT EVEN KIDDING
You should!!! It's actually amazing (??? <---shocker? I'm shocked at how much I liked it?)
you listed my book ASDFGHJKL *sobbing*
ReplyDeleteI love you so much
SHADOW AND BONE YESSSSS you're welcome for that one >:)
ALSO WORLDS BENEATH CAN WE JUST TALK ABOUT THAT ENTIRE FREAKING SERIES ACCCCCKKKKK YESSSSS
okay love you. Love this post. <3 <3 <3
OF COURSE I DID YOUR BOOK IS AMAZING
DeleteYes dear *rolls eyes* thanks
YESSSSS
I've semi-secretly always wanted to read the Grisha trilogy and now I'm even more convinced that it would be a fun read. XD
ReplyDeleteGreat post!!
You should tbh xD I can give you a content review if you'd like, but I think you might enjoy it.
DeleteThanks!
I NEED to read so many of these! Adorning the Dark, K.A. Emmons' whole series, SHADOW AND BONE, Brooke's book OF COURSE--just all of 'em!
ReplyDeleteLoved this post! And your descriptions are always the best. "Rishatta lite (meaning he's blond mwahaha)" Bwahahaha! Now I need to meet this person! XD
YES YOU DO YOU REALLY DO *sobs*
DeleteI mean he literally had the same archetype, role, looks, evil father, everything. I was reading it like O_O because THEY ARE THE SAME PERSON
HOT TAKE I LIKED THE GRISHA TRILOGY BETTER THAN SOC THAT IS ALL.
ReplyDeleteI always love reading these mid-year wrap-up posts!! I think so far this year, my favorite books have been The Jewel of the Kalderash by Marie Rutkoski, The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Mohsin Hamid, aaaaand . . . *angst* The Hollow Boy by Jonathan Stroud. AND CALL OF THE WRAITH BY KEVIN SANDS AHHHHHH.
I AGREE *children screaming in the background*
DeleteI haven't read (or heard of) ANY of these but the TITLES are amazing and it's making me think I need to seek them out because THEY SOUND INCREDIBLE ACTUALLY
Ha, I have the same thoughts on Shadow and Bone. The Darkling is waaay to romanticized. Mal is the best and Alina doesn't deserve him.
ReplyDeleteThe Darkling is the WORST and yeah Mal is my absolute favorite *cries*
DeleteI haven't read any of these but they all look SO GOOD OMW.
ReplyDeleteWant to read Adorning the Dark simply for the cover. Wow!
ReplyDeleteHello, friends! Do make yourselves comfortable and stay for a while--I'd love to chat with you! I simply ask that you keep it clean. :)
