MY MOST ANTICIPATED RELEASES OF 2019: Or my take on the Bookish Meltdown Tag!
Ha! Nicki, lookit, I'm doing the tag! Well, sort of...
First order of business: My giveaway winner! I got a lot of entries, which was crazy, and I'm excited to announce that our winner for this is: *drumroll please*
RACHEL MEYER!
Congrats! I'll get that shipped to you ASAP!
Now, on to today's post!
2019 is shaping up to be a great year for new releases! I've already read (and screamed over) Holly Black's The Wicked King and Jennifer Nielsen's The Deceiver's Heart, my two most anticipated reads of 2019, and I have a long list of others that I just CANNOT WAIT for. *squeals*
These will be in no particular order, but I'll give the release date and a little bit about why I'm excited for each of them!
The Books
Sand Castle Dreams by Taylor Bennett
This one actually comes out today (squee!) and I have it preordered! I have the honor of knowing Taylor personally, and she is just the sweetest and most wonderful person EVER. I loved the first book in this series and I can't wait to see where Olive's journey takes her!
Flight of the Raven by Morgan L. Busse
Okay, so can we all just agree that the ending of Mark of the Raven was mind-blowing? I love Damien, Selene deserves a better life, and I'm kind of afraid of her mom--so I think this sequel is going to be pretty darn awesome. And I get to meet Ms. Busse at Realm Makers! I'm planning to buy this one there, assuming it is there.
Words on Fire by Jennifer Nielsen
Oddly enough, Jennifer Nielsen has become one of my favorite authors, mostly thanks to the Traitor's Game series. She's one of those people who proves the "writing rules" wrong--you CAN be a successful author, while writing in more than one genre! She writes fantasy and historical fiction, and I've loved everything I've read by her. This one is going to be about Lithuania during the Soviet Union era and ACK excited. I preordered this one too!
Four Dead Queens by Astrid Scholte
Look, I'm not even sure why I'm excited about this one? But it's physically sitting on my library's bookshelf right now! And I'm GOING to read it as soon as it's available! It just sounds really unique and good, right?
Again, But Better by Christine Riccio
I know nothing about this except for the fact that Nadine Brandes says it's one of her most anticipated books of the year and I trust Nadine Brandes. Also, college! This one is also preordered (are we noting a pattern here?!)
Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Robertson
I didn't really love An Enchantment of Ravens (it was cool, but meh), but this one just sounds amazing. Librarians, steampunk-y sounding inventions, and sorcerers? SIGN. ME. UP. I'm not going to say it again, but I, uh, preordered. Lol.

Abbie Emmons' book
Abbie is the sweetest blogger and makes the most amazing YouTube videos. I love her wholeheartedly and I can't wait for her book! I don't read much contemporary, but I think this one will be BRILLIANT. *grins*
A Curse so Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer
Brigid Kemmerer and I do not get along. I disliked Letters to the Lost (I know! Sue me!) and hated More Than We Can Tell, but I think this one sounds like it miiiiiiight be okay? I'm not sure yet. But I'm willing to try it. Beauty and the Beast retellings are always cool! (Although I don't think any of them can compare to my favorite one, which would have to be our own dear Christine Smith's Burning Thorns.)
Romanov by Nadine Brandes
I liked Fawkes--it wasn't my faaavorite, but it was still good. However, I did LOVE Nadine's Out of Time series, and I also just love Nadine? Plus, the World War I era! Lol. I'm also preordering this one and I can't wait for it!
The Boy Who Steals Houses by C.G. Drews
A Thousand Perfect Notes was possibly one of the best contemporaries I've read? And this one looks like it'll be just as good! Maybe not quite as compelling, since it's not about musicians, but still really, really really good. I needs. This one should be coming to my grabby hands toward the end of the month!
A Time of Trepidation, Pirates, and Lost Princesses by Nicki Chapelway
I've read the first one and I just did a giveaway for it! And not only that, but I get to BETA READ this one. Mwahahahaha. Let's see if I can remember anything at all that happened in the first because I have about the memory of a goldfish. But also: Easton and Chelsea. That's all.

Legacy by Shannon Messenger
I JUST WANNA KNOW WHY ONE OF THE TITLES CONSIDERED WAS "REMATCH" OKAY?! That better mean what I think it means!!!! If my OTP does not get together I might actually scream out loud. My precious little bbys.
The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black
And this is the one that doesn't come out until January 2020, but OH MY GOSH that cover. And the cliffhanger at the end of book 2...I wasn't really a fan of the Cruel Prince--I liked it, but not that much--but The Wicked King settled matters for me. And now I just wanna know what my sweet girl Jude is going to do, because she may well be one of my favorite YA antiheroes EVER.
Okay, your turn! What are some of your most anticipated YA books of 2019? Are you super excited for any of the books on this list? Have you read Porch Swing Girl? (Because YOU NEED TO.) Chat with me in the comments! Flail! Go crazy! XD

WAIT WAIT WAIT ONE OF THE TITLES CONSIDERED WAS REMATCH????? I AM VERY CONCERNED (both for Sophie’s safety and her love life . . . ;) )
ReplyDeleteHaha, I felt the same way about Fawkes! I was expecting it to be The Best Book of All Time and it just . . . wasn’t. But HECK YES Romanov is going to be great.
*cough* Burning Thorns is surperior to all other B&B retellings *cough*
Great post, Faith! I’m going to have to add a few more books to the TBR - they all sound really good!
YES IT WAS! I SCREAMED WHEN I SAW IT and then I cried. xD
DeleteYes! I thought it would be absolutely the best thing ever and. Meh. But I'M PRETTY EXCITED FOR ROMANOV!
*cough* I could not agree more *cough*
Ahhh, good! :D
*sneaks into this thread*

Weloveyoumore
Delete*hugs you*
YAY! You did the tag and it was fantastic :D I loved seeing how many anticipated releases we have in common.
ReplyDeleteJennifer Nielson is fantastic, I've been slowly collecting her books. I have her Scourge and the first in the Mark of the Thief series waiting to be read, but I don't have any of her historical books yet.
Four Dead Queens? I don't even remember what it is about, but that title and that cover and I'm ready to read it myself XD
I haven't read Mark of the Raven yet even though my mom owns it. I guess I'm saving it for a rainy day but those covers are gorgeous.
Oof, I'd better get working on A Time of Trepidation then, huh? XD Actually, I have been majorly working on it this week and I'm super proud of myself.
Also, congrats Rachel Meyer!
Awesome post!
Yes! I was kind of glaring at your post the whole time...like, girl, let me make my list in peace! Sheesh. xD
DeleteIsn't it? I own the Scourge as well, haven't read it yet. I'm always so scared of reading her books because they're so consuming xD
YEP! It's about this pickpocket who has to find the person who murdered four queens (I think), and that's like enough for me. I'll take it, please and thanks.
Aren't they?! I got it on kindle while it was $.79 and it was totally worth the less-than-a-dollar xD
YOU BETTER! And also yay!!!!! Super proud of you *sends hugs*
Yes! <3
Thank you!
I am drooling over basically every book you mentioned. I just love them all so much (in theory), and I can't wait to find out if that theory can become fact.
ReplyDeleteSAME GIRL SAME. *salivates over the books* GIMME.
DeleteIf I read The Folk of the Air, it'll be after Queen of Nothing comes out. XD
ReplyDeleteAgain, But Better sounds interesting! I've seen one or two of Christine's writing episodes on her YouTube channel and her writer-ly excitement inspires me. XD (I don't watch her channel often, though, mainly because she uses strong language pretty frequently.)
YES, Words on Fire sounds so good!!
Good plan xD Although I don't know that you'd like it, particularly? Idk though.
DeleteIt does! I know next to nothing about it but hey, I'm always looking for contemporaries that will actually change my mind about hating contemporaries xD
DOESN'T IT?! I didn't mention TTG book 3 on here because we don't have a title...but GAH I need that more than any of the others on this list *winces*
Yeah, I don't know if I'd like it either. As of now I'm not particularly interested, but I confess that the major hype surrounding it makes it tempting. Like... WHAT IS EVERYONE SCREAMING ABOUT?? xP
DeleteI know, right?! I'm desperate for a title. *grabby hands*
This is very relatable! (Hence me reading Throne of Glass, lolz.) I'd probably recommend you NOT read it, though. It's not your kind of thing (at least imo, and it's got some Content I know you wouldn't be a fan of.)
DeleteGIVE IT HERE RIGHT NOW NIELSEN SO HELP ME
You're probably absolutely right, judging by what I've heard. I trust your judgement on it. *nods*
DeleteWow, it's nice to have someone who knows my tastes and can tell me reliably whether I'd probably like a book or not. Really nice! *hugs*
Awww, I'm so glad! *hugs back*
DeleteThese are all such gorgeous covers. o.o
ReplyDeleteAnd I've never read any of the series you mentioned here, but maybe I should check some of them out? I'm definitely looking forward to reading Romanov and The Boy Who Steals Houses. Also, I got an email this morning from Goodreads telling me that The Strangers by Margaret Peterson Haddix is out, so now I'm excited about that, too, even though I forgot about it. xD
theonesthatreallymatter.blogspot.com
Aren't they?!
DeleteYou should! They're awesome. And both of those are going to be fantastic! Ooh, I haven't heard of that one! I'll have to look into it ^_^
Oh my word TOO MANY GOOD BOOKS *dies*
ReplyDeleteAgain, But Better sounds sooo intriguing! I'm really curious about it...And I mean, if Nadine Brandes likes it? I trust her. :)
I still have yet to read Fawkes (it's sitting on my shelf, glaring at me), but I'm pretty excited about Romanov already! I've been craving some good historical fiction type reads...
WAIT ABBIE IS RELEASING A BOOK??! How did I not know this?! AGH I'm so excited!! :D
Oh gosh, I am SO pumped for Cait's book, I CANNOT wait to read it. And I don't read much contemporary...but I just LOVED A Thousand Perfect Notes sooo much. <333
*dies with you* IKR?!
DeleteI know! I know next to nothing about it, but hey, it sounds like it'll be awesome! ^_^ And Nadine has good taste in books, so...yeah, I trust her too ;)
YES MA'AM! It's going to be pretty incredible, I just know it.
YES SHE IS! She's going on hiatus for April but she says she'll be sharing more info at the beginning of May, so I'm keeping my eyes peeled for that.
I KNOW, SAME. I don't read any contemporary, but I LOOOOOVED it too and I can't wait for this one!
OOOH, ALL THE LOVELY BOOKS. <333
ReplyDeleteYessss. <333
DeleteI want to read The Boy Who Steals Houses too! It is on my TBR.
ReplyDeleteastorydetective.blogspot.com
