The Best Version of Les Mis?

by - June 06, 2017

Short little post today, everybody. I just wanted to share with you my top versions of each song in Les Mis. I've compiled a Spotify playlist that I call "The Ultimate Les Mis", although that doesn't mean that none of the other versions are good, just that these are my particular favorites.

I was planning a much longer post, but I am in the throes of school finals and studying and CLEP testing coming up and... bleck. So I'm sorry. I will have a much better post on Thursday for you!

But for now...
That playlist.

I hope you'll give this a listen - it really is the best.

And if you'd rather listen to just one version, for first-timers I would recommend the Complete Symphonic Version. It's free on Spotify and has every song regardless of popularity/hit material.

Peace out!

  2. Nothing from Les Miserables in Concert: The 25th Anniversary? I don't know that you can find the songs on Spotify, but I really like that version. Also, hello! I think you followed my blog, and I've seen your comments around, so I figured I'd stop in.

    1. Oh, hi! I like your blog :)

I liked that version, too, but they don't have it on Spotify. Shame - Norm Lewis is amazing as Javert, and I looooooove Sam Barks. But oh well. :P

  4. I sometimes have trouble finding a favourite version!
When I was taking German I listened to Les Mis in Deutch, so Jerzy Jeszky's 'Bring Ihn Heim' has a special place on my list. Listening to it right now!

  5. I loved the entire 10th anniversary edition of Les Mis! Ruthie Henshall, when she sings "I Dreamed a Dream," makes me bawl every time. You don't have to see her act it out, because she has such control over her voice, making it more raspy at certain parts but still sounding like an angel the entire time.

I really want to see Les Mis-- like an actual national tour or if it ever returns to Broadway-- just to have "One Day More" blasted super loud in my face by so many singers. That'd just make me such a happy bean! In the meantime, I'll have to settle for singing all of the parts at the same time-- or try to, anyway.

    1. RUTHIE HENSHALL. She is literally the best. And yeah, I think every Les Mis fan tries to sing all of One Day More simultaneously. Why doesn't it work?!
